The race for Senate District 12 is a re-match of the 2010 election. Two years ago, when the Republicans’ Tea Party fringe took over the Legislature, Jim Luther was narrowly elected over then-Senator Peggy Gilmour.
Since being elected, Luther has voted to cut funding for the University of New Hampshire; he has sponsored legislation to take money from self-funded State programs and place it into the ‘general fund’ to offset business tax cuts; and he was the prime sponsor of the school voucher bill that would take money from our public schools and give it to private (for-profit) schools.
District 12 has been reconfigured to increase Luther’s chances of being re-elected. It now includes Brookline, Greenville, Hollis, Mason, New Ipswich, Rindge, and Wards 1, 2, and 5 in the city of Nashua.
If you live in District 12, please take the time to learn more about Peggy Gilmour before you vote on Tuesday.
